Feature Of The Week - The London College Of Fashion

Like many other fashion bloggers my age, I am a wannabe fash-grad, and am hoping to study a BA (Hons) in Fashion Management at the London College Of Fashion. I went along to their open day on 26th September, and definitely found my people! I got my hands on a copy of their home-grown magazine, Pigeons & Peacocks, which is a unique, editorial take on many fashion magazines we see today. The talks encorporated both vital information about the courses, as well as footage of their recent catwalk shows in the summer, which was a highlight for me! Of course, the trip couldn't be completed without a trip to my favourite restaurant, The Diner, in Carnaby Street, and a visit to Topshop in Oxford Circus!

To see more of the magazine, check it out here: http://www.pigeonsandpeacocks.com/

Fash-Friday Flashback

As we delve deeper into the Autumn season, Summer seems ever further away... The Summer is always my favourite time to develop a whole new wardrobe collection, creating new styles with the current trends. This year's have possibly been my favourite, especially with my own take on them!

Here I am in Egypt earlier this year, teaming a modern strapless, cut-out swimsuit with traditional denim shorts and vintage kitsch sunglasses.... not forgetting a copy of Company Magazine!

Bring on S/S13!

Sale Of The Week - Office

You might not know it, but one of our country's biggest footwear retailers has one of the best sale strategies - you can never struggle to find a bargain worth investing in! As an example, I had been eyeing up these awesome pair of black ankle strapped platforms, originally retailing originally at around £45-50, and was able to get my hands on them for £20... I do love a smart sale!

See for yourself here: http://www.office.co.uk/sale

Style Icon Of The Week - Miranda Kerr

The wife of Orlando Bloom, a Victoria's Secret Model, a killer body.... this woman has it all! Miranda is beauty personified, managing to achieve a sustainable modelling career whilst balancing a family life. Not to mention her fantastic taste in clothes!

Follow Miranda on Twitter: https://twitter.com/MirandaKerr

Outfit Of The Week

Party season is in full swing, which means it's always an excuse to extend you wardrobe! I chose my Topshop black playsuit (£42, http://www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=&catalogId=33057&storeId=12556&productId=6257966&langId=-1&categoryId=&searchTerm=black%20playsuit&pageSize=20) to wear to a friend's party. You can never go wrong with such a classic colour and a minimalistic take on your outfit, it pays off!

(Thanks to my gorgeous friends Hannah and Amy - who's 19 today! - for appearing in this!)

Website Of The Week - Vivien Of Holloway

Often found in the back of Company Magazine, Vivien Of Holloway is highly underrated for its gorgeous array of 1950s dresses, ranging from halternecks to pencil skirts. Aside from their speciality in dresses, they design a number of other quirky garments, such as gypsy tops, swing trousers and playsuits. I will be buying from them soon!

Check them out here: http://www.vivienofholloway.com/en/

Beauty Essential Of The Week - The SCD Range

To celebrate the soon return of one of the nation's much loved television classics, Strictly Come Dancing, I have chosen their extensive nail varnish collection as this week's beauty essential! The range caters to every taste and occasion... from the fiery, vibrant latino colours to the classic, hollywood-esque shades...  I couldn't do without it!

'Fash-Phrase' Of The Week

If you ever happen to be sitting on the front row at a catwalk show, and can't quite understand the lingo, here is a helping hand!

Credits - The vital stats.... what, where and how much?! (e.g. Dress, £45, Miss Selfridge)

Theme Of The Week - Cosmic Girl

It's outrageous and contagious - the Cosmic print has arrived, giving you an alternative to summery florals this A/W! This trend has embraced the tastes of all fashionistas, creating garments for both the more tame and modest amongst us, whilst letting others go bold and O.T.T! Topshop is a fantastic advocate of this... I am loving my own Astronaut T-Shirt, and these space-age leggings:

Anna Dello Russo x H&M Collection

Christian Louboutin F/W 2012-2013

Christian Louboutin is well known for his red-bottomed shoes. The soles of the shoes are arguably as recognizable as some of our favorite landmarks.

Christian's latest campaign is an impulsive illustration of Paris, in which the footwear is scaled to larger-than-life proportions and made to resemble structural works of art.
From fountains, to statues to gargoyles, the brightly colored soles appear all over the City of Lights. The shoes are incorporated into actual historical places like Notre Dame, the Place de la Concorde and the Pont Des Arts.

Feature Special - London Fashion Week

From 14th - 18th September, our capital hosted one of the most talked about and highly anticipated events of the fashion calendar... LFW! Showcasing designs from Christopher Kane to Jasper Conran, it was obvious why fashion A-listers such as Kelly Brook and Daisy Lowe were eager to sit in the infamous front row!
Here are my fashion favourites from the 5 days....

Day 1 - Who could not love Fyodor Golan's retro and unique takes on classic shapes? I definitely do! Especially alongside a minimalistic collection by Sass & Bide.

Day 2 - House of Holland really stood out for me, with their collection of brightly mis-matched patterns and far-out prints.... bang on trend! I also adored the dresses showcased by Sophia Webster.

Day 3  -  One of my all-time favourite designers, Vivienne Westwood, certainly made a fashion first by painting the faces of her models, working surprisingly well against her fabulously creative designs! There were also some fantastically theatrical pieces from Phillip Treacy.

Day 4 - High fashion collaborated with practicality to create formal workplace friendly pieces with a twist in the collection from Antonio Berardi. This vastly contrasted from the works of Louise Gray and Mark Fast, both using a palette of vibrant colours to showcase their designs.

Day 5 - The final day saw an urban meets Fresh Prince approach from Nasir Mazhar complete with kitsch props and backdrop. It also featured the zany designs from Meadham Kirchhoff, combining a modern day twist with the elegance of the victorian era.

'Fash-Phrase' Of The Week

Fashpriation - a collection, or image that creates a sense of fashion inspiration. Here's hoping this blog will be one too!

Accessory Of The Week - RetroSuperFuture

This relatively unknown brand produces a quirky and vibrant range of both Glasses and Sunglasses, appealing to all different personalities whilst making it cool to be a four-eyes. Outfit Of The Week!

The beginning of a new season may mean the dreaded family reunion rears its head, but it is also a fantastic opportunity to showcase the up-and-coming trends of this A/W season! I have teamed my Khaki knitted stud cotton jumper (£42, Topshophttp://www.topshop.com) with a pair of basic black tights and Wulfrun double sole leopard print creepers (£99, Undergroundhttp://www.underground-england.co.uk) to help get into the autumnal spirit!

Style Icon Of The Week: Lana Del Rey

Aside from being one of this year's most talked about new artists, Lana Del Rey has also taken the fashion world by storm. Embodying both classic and retro, she has brought the timeless style of women such as Nancy Sinatra and Jackie O back to the forefront. It has also been recently announced that Miss Del Rey will become the new face of Swedish fashion brand H&M, hopefully featured in a store near you!

The Fashion Shower

The fashion director Anna Dello Russo has created a music video to celebrate her upcoming accessories collection for H&M. The new release features a full-length version of her own track, Fashion Shower, which she first previewed in May last year.

Music Video

So high…so glitter…so GOLD, are her jewelries, clutches, & shoes which are going on sale October 4th. Dello Russo also shares some pearls of wisdom throughout the track, laying down her fashion rules.

And in case you're struggling with Dello Russo's Italian accent, here are 10 such nuggets she dispenses:

Lesson # 1: Fashion is a declaration of your own freedom.
Lesson # 2: Between style and fashion? Absolutely fashion?
Lesson # 3: Fashion is always uncomfortable; if you feel comfortable you never get the look.
Lesson # 4: Fabulous at every age.
Lesson # 5: wearing night clothes in the daytime is unexpected.
Lesson # 6: Somebody wearing your same outfit? Wonderful, you did the right choice
Lesson # 7: You must wear outfit once
Lesson # 8: Wear coat as a dress
Lesson # 9: It doesn't matter the size of your body, fashion flatter everything
Lesson # 10: Fashion jewels personalize your style
