The End Of An Era...

Last week was my final day after 7 years spent at my school and sixth form! To celebrate, the day was spent in fancy dress. This proved to be a perfect opportunity for my best friend Zara and I to dig out a costume we made (well, I mainly sat and ate biscuits) almost 3 years ago... our Saloon Doors! After keeping 'Sal' behind my bedroom door for many years, it was pretty emotional to wear them again! It was a lovely day, but I can safely say I am ready to move on to bigger and better things in my life!

Here's to the future!

Body Gossip

Body Gossip is a campaign that promoted positive body image, encouraging everyone to embrace what they have and to be "the best version of themselves". As a young girl growing up in a society with a fixed perception of how we should all look, Body Gossip's embracing encouragement comes as a breath of fresh air, as we see too many people fall victim to the pressure of the media. Both the efforts of co-founders Ruth Rogers and Natasha Devon have not gone unnoticed, having won Cosmopolitan's Ultimate Women of the Year Award (in the Campaigners Category) last year.

Body Gossip have a number of innovative ways in which they convey their message to the masses, including:

by creating productions, based on stories written by their  audience about their bodies, with pieces performed by a celebrity cast (e.g. ambassador Zaraah Abrahams)

creating an awesome range of T-Shirts designed by Lee Simmons - what's not to love about these? My favourite is 'BeYOUtiful'... feel-good yet clever!

Releasing their very own book of stories, which has been given the fashion thumbs-up by none other than Gok Wan! It also contains celebrity entries from the likes of Craig Revel Horwood, Jermain Defoe and Alesha Dixon.

I have been completely inspired by Body Gossip to feel confident in my own skin and to be proud of the way I look, along with their work being incredibly important and fundamental to changing the opinions of the modern day. I am extremely excited about their upcoming production and projects, and cannot wait to continue to watch their campaign evolve!

A Sudden Change Of Heart...

In the past, I would always have been the first to regard the 'family tree' of brands, including Gilly Hicks and Hollister, as places where I would never shop at or wear clothes from. I have been really surprised to have not only changed my mind on this, but to have actually bought the flip flops and bikini I have featured - and I love them! From actually taking the time to assess their collection instead of brashly disregarding them all together, I have seen many items I like, especially their collection of Joggers and yoga gear.

Here's to (hopefully) a long and happy relationship with them both!

Angel Jackson

Angel Jackson is a young British accessory label, who are "widely recognized for their stylish and glamorous designs that have a "don't mess with me" attitude". They're adored by many of the fashion elite and celebrities alike, and also won the Topshop New Designer Award in their first season. They aim to  "produce accessories that are both modern and super chic but with a healthy dash of underground edgy-luxe" - I am absolutely in love with their products! Check out some of my favourites:

1) Atomic Mini Box Bag in Gold Snakeskin - Retro yet edgy and refreshing!

2) The Lianto Feather Black - The epitome of classic beauty!

3) Deco Step Mini Box Bag Snakeskin Bright Berry/ Chartreuse - Perfect for a print clash outfit!

4) Leather and Snakeskin Cut Work Foldover Large Black/Natural - Elegantly Western!

5) Military Tiger Satchel Red/Gold/Khaki - Oriental and original!

One of the main reasons that I really admire Angel Jackson is because of their ability to create such diverse  and unique collections within their expanding range. Each bag embodies a completely different feel and look to the next, allowing their work to appeal to the likes of many (I would happily buy them all - A girl can dream!)

I cannot wait to see their collections to come and wish them all the best for the future!

My Stylespiration

There are so many people in today's fashion industry and modern society that I look up to and seek fashion inspiration from! This week it's possibly my favourite actress of all time... Demi Moore. Despite her recent weight jibes and concerns for her wellbeing, Demi has never stopped being beautiful in my eyes! Personally, I don't think she can top her appearance in the smash-hit 90s film Striptease (although I LOVE her glasses), but how many 50 somethings do you know that can pull off a short grey playsuit? Sod Ashton, I say!

The Perfect Prom Dress

Seeing as I am on the topic of 'Prom' this week, it's only fitting that I show you what I think may possibly be the perfect prom dress.

As well as the Sixth Form May Ball happening last friday, HRS' Yr 11's also had their prom last night. Check out my favourite dress of the night - worn by the gorgeous Ellie Miller! This girl has amazing style and really knows her way around fashion, so her dress choice goes as no surprise - the 'Raina Jade' dress from Virgos Lounge is a work of art in itself. The brand aims to 'create unique statement pieces for the modern woman', and with the contemporary silhouette and colour infused with the intricate detail and embellishment, it certainly fulfils the brief. Ellie completes her stunning vintage look with 40s curls and trademark red lipstick... it just goes to show that true classic beauty will always prevail to be the best!

Surprise Store

In the past, I have always been the first to dismiss Matalan, but this summer season, i've been really surprised to find that it has produced some amazing garments for their S/S13 collection. Here are some of my favourites that I'm looking to invest in:

a) Pink Gingham Trousers (£12) - Daisy Duke meets city chic... these pants are totally cute, bringing a retro feel to this summer's season. They are also flattering for both slim and wider hips, which is a difficult balance to master.

b) City Shorts (£6) - I have been after a pair of city shorts for a while now, and as these have a classic print while being a true bargain... what's not to like?

c) Shift Dress (£16) - This dress has a slightly more classic, almost Grecian, feel to it, something you can easily see being paired with statement gladiators. This is not a look I would typically lean towards, so i'm excited to try it out!

The May Ball Journey - The Conclusion!

The May Ball Journey has finally reached its conclusion!! Last friday was the big day - it was an amazing night, I had so much fun with all of my friends... I'm going to miss them when we all head our separate ways! Check out some of the pictures from the night!!
